About the Author

Thomas Jay Rush is a software engineer and writer who has spent more than forty years building software, from early database systems to blockchain infrastructure.

In 2016, Rush watched the DAO hack unfold in real time, quit his job, and founded TrueBlocks — an open-source project dedicated to making blockchain data accessible without third-party intermediaries. The project’s core innovation, the Unchained Index, provides permissionless, local-first access to Ethereum transaction history, enabling anyone to query their own data privately and accurately.

Before blockchain, Rush worked on 3-D computer graphics systems and scientific visualization. His former company, Great Hill Corporation, wrote and sold one of the world’s first SaaS products, Calendars for the Web. Rush holds a mathematics degree from Temple University, an MS in Computer Science from the University of Pennsylvania, and an MFA in Poetry from Rosemont College.

He has been writing about technology since the days of 8K floppy drives.

He lives with his wife near Philadelphia in near perfect harmony. You can find TrueBlocks at trueblocks.io and his personal writings at stonylanepress.org.
